May was a very cold and rainy month here, in my opinion. We had a few scattered days of glorious spring weather, and today is certainly sunny, so it wasn't all gloomy. It's just strange to wear jeans instead of shorts most days in May. The weather has helped us come to terms with the late end to the school year though. We know all our NM friends are done with school already, but it feels reasonable to still have school with the later arrival of summer weather.
Mother's Day was one of those beautiful days. We had a nice brunch in our neighborhood and walked up to the movie theater to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Today is the one year anniversary of our arrival in Arlington. We drove into town on May 31 last year, and got the keys to this house on June 1. One more year to go! We need to get cracking if we're going to see all the things we want to see on the East coast before we move away. I wonder how many day trips and weekend trips I can pack into 13 months?
We have been trying to get out to see things on the weekends. We went to Baltimore one Sunday to meet some friends at the children's science center. That was another beautiful, sunny day. Then we went up to Philadelphia last weekend to spend cousin Riley's birthday with him at the Philadelphia zoo.
For the most part, however, we've been doing the usual school stuff and just going about our normal lives. Tommy had a lot of band events in May. He had an overnight trip to Hershey Park, PA earlier in the month, and was in a multi-school all stars jazz band as well. Charlie has finished up his computer coding class for the year, and has started writing angsty songs on his electric guitar. David only had one week of work travel this month. It's been nice to have him home more this spring. I signed us up to get a weekly share of produce from the farmers' market, and have been figuring out how to use it all.
We're ready for summer to start! We plan to enjoy the last 3+ weeks of school first though. There are lots of parties, events, concerts, test and playdates on the calendar. Being busy is good!
