Tommy entered his first official science fair yesterday. Their science fair is non-competitive, but the judges do give each kid feedback and rate each part of their project as poor/fair/good/excellent. Tommy got 7 excellents and 3 goods. I'd say that's great for a kindergartner! Entering the fair was completely optional, and only 9 kindergarten kids choose to do a project. Of those 9, I was surprised to see that Tommy was the only one who hand wrote his entire project. The poor little guy has mean parents who wouldn't let him use the computer for it.
He spent a lot of time at his desk writing out the different parts of his project. We asked him what he wanted to say, helped him to simplify the wording a bit, and helped him with the spelling, but he did it all himself.
So here's the project. It's called "What Floats? Fresh vs. Sea vs. Super Salty" David and I helped him cover the board and glue everything down, but he did all the experimenting and writing himself. Hopefully I've manged to get the pictures clear enough for you to read what he wrote. You can always click on individual pictures to enlarge them.
